ROMA SALEYARDS
Feel the energy and excitement of a real cattle auction at Australia’s biggest cattle selling facility. This is where it all happens. On any given day up to 7,000 head of cattle are brought for sale. Cattle are purchased on the ground in Roma and taken throughout the state and as far south as Victoria. Every year, around 4000 visitors join a free guided tour of the facility for an incredible insight into life on the land. Visit the interpretive centre telling the story of the cattle industry.
BIG RIG NIGHT SHOW
The Big Rig is hard to miss as you roll into Roma, the cradle of Australia’s oil and gas industry. It was after all, the first place in Australia where oil and gas was discovered back in October 1900. Visitors to the Big Rig can uncover the stories via expertly guided tours, museum displays and the hugely popular Sound & Light Show. There’s also a convenient on-site cafe for visitors seeking refreshments or lunch.
BOOBOOK ECOTOURS

Their local guides are regarded as natural history authorities of the Carnarvon Ranges, Brigalow Belt, Central Queensland Sandstone Belt and surrounding regions. ROMA BUSH GARDENS
Encompassing the picturesque Railway Dam, this leisurely walk is a must for enthusiast of the Australian bush. The 14 hectare gardens showcase eleven vegetation communities local to the Roma region, including Brigalow, Coolibah and Mulga. The walk offers a great variety of different vistas of the dam, which is also regarded as a first-rate place for bird-watching. The Roma Bush Gardens offers a public car and picnic area for visitors.
ROMA’S EASTER IN THE COUNTRY
Roma’s Easter in the Country Festival is a five-day celebration of all things country. The Festival offers a range of activities for the thrill-seeker; the cultural/culinary buff and those who like to take things a little more leisurely. The event gives an opportunity for the residents of the area to invite their relatives and friends as well as ‘first timers’ to spend a long weekend in the country to enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness that Roma has in ‘spades’.
ROMA PICNIC RACES
Are you a racing fanatic? Or simply looking to experience an outback race event? This is the ultimate race weekend for you! One weekend a year Roma becomes a Picnics race meeting. Have a punt during the day and soak up the energetic raving atmosphere. Then as night falls, expect an evening that is full of dancing, fun and country entertainment. Guests are asked to attend in their best frocks for the black tie ball.
