About The Barn at Mount Hope

Spurred on by the need to drought-proof their business, Leon and Ree Price began building their unique venue ‘The Barn,’ on their 13,759 hectare Mount Hope property. Mount Hope is an easy 40 minute drive from Roma, Outback Queensland.

Drawing on her experience on Tourism Portfolio Chairperson with the Maranoa Regional Council, Ree began planning work on the family’s new business venture – one that wasn’t connected to weather. The Barn at Mount Hope event and function centre became the first stage of the family’s venture into tourism.

A perfectly new shed on their property was made to look old on the inside using recycled timber and other building materials from family properties. Plenty of work went into the venue to create the rustic country style that guests experience today. A major talking point of The Barn is the large windmill, complete with fairy lights suspended from the ceiling. “The Crown” as it is affectionately known can also be adorned with a chandelier when a more formal atmosphere is required!

The Barn at Mount Hope events calendar is jam-packed with weddings, Christmas parties and workshops. Onsite station accommodation is available for up to 17 guests in comfortable rustic cabins featuring ensuites and homely station touches. Station tag-along-tours and hop on coach tours make up an exciting new touring product for Mount Hope. Group packages including starry night Camp Oven dinners are becoming a firm favourite.
